In 1965, when Panair do Brasil stopped its activities, VARIG assumed those company’s services in routes to Europe, as well as its fleet and employees. Two DC-8, prefixes PP-PDS and PP-PEA operated VARIG’s international routes. Initially in Rio de Janeiro – Lisbon – Paris – London and Frankfurt route and also in Rio de Janeiro – Monrovia – Rome – Milan - Beirut route. Then DC-8 operated in Rio – Belém - Miami and Rio - Caracas - Miami route.
The PP-PDS was sold in 1978, while PP-PEA crashed in 1967.
